Their Story
Curraghmore Distillery have confirmed that they have received planning permission for a new organic, carbon-neutral whiskey distillery and visitor centre to be built here at Curraghmore Estate, Portlaw, Co Waterford, Ireland. This distillery and visitor centre will allow them to distil single-estate pot still whiskey on-site, and welcome visitors to Curraghmore to experience the whole whiskey-making process, from field to glass.
Their plan is to convert five existing 180-year-old agricultural buildings on Curraghmore Estate to the distillery and visitor centre. These buildings are of great historical importance – they are the earliest know example of an industrial farmyard to be built anywhere in Europe – and were designed by the renowned architect William Tinsley. They are in incredible condition for their age, and we know they will provide the perfect setting for their distillery.
