Their Story
Gortinore Distillery is being built in an ex woollen mill on the banks of the River Mahon. It started life in 1850s famine struck Ireland as a woollen mill providing much-needed employment and income for the local community, making blankets for export to the front line of the First World War.
In 1920 it became the home of Flahavan’s Irish porridge oats, sending Irish porridge oats to the four corners of the world. Now the distillery is preparing to install 3 copper pot stills and ageing whiskey casks.
