Teeling Revival No.5
The fifth and final release in the Revival series. Unlike previous releases which were limited to 10,000 bottles, this has a release of 15,000. Consists of 12 Year Old Single Malt Irish whiskey initially matured in Bourbon barrels and then given additional maturation in ex-Brandy & ex-Cognac Casks. Bottled at 46% ABV and non-chill filtered/RRP around €120.
Greg Dillon Notes
Quite smooth, not a dry whiskey all with juicy tropical fruit notes shining through with vanilla and those dried dark fruits present but more in the background this time.
A waxy mouthfeel with slightly spicy notes developing with time.
A smooth, spicy finish that lingers and tingles the tongue – in a nice way.
A very good whiskey here, the fine chaps and chapesses at Teeling have done it again, but it did need time in the glass to develop fully into something of true quality – the
initial nose and taste was not as good as once it had developed.
Michael Foggarty Notes
Grapes, toasted nuts, Almonds? Quite light.
Distilled grapes, brand/cognac. A very nice creamy texture to it. Very nutty with just a the right amount of oak with some sweet stone fruit. Well balanced with no flavour standing out above the others and nothing over
Whiskey meets brandy, the balance is perfect. Maturing whiskey in casks used for other spirits is a tricky task but the giant American Alex has got this spot on (again).
