Omar Fitzell Notes
Slight metallic note that gives way to a nice sweetness. Figs are evident from the beginning with some apricots and honey also creeping in.
Palate:
That’s some kick. The sweetness from the nose is delivered in abundance with oceans of honey, apricots, figs and poached pears. Some strawberry in there somewhere too!
Finish:
Long and slightly drying as would be expected from a port finished whiskey. Some slight dark chocolate notes with burnt brown sugar just as the finish turns into a pleasant warm spice tingle.
Overall:
Is this really only a 10yr old…because the colour is phenomenal! This is a smashing release and yet again a credit to the IWS and Teeling alike. A wee drop of water rounds it off nicely and drowns out some of the dryness in the finish.
Al Higgins notes
Nose:
Very nice! Bakewell tarts, rum ‘n’ raisin, nutmeg, cinnamon and chocolate.
Palate:
Sweet, fruity and warming. Flavours of dried fruits, roasted nuts, chocolate and creme caramel.
Finish:
Cream, chocolate, mocha and Nutella. Good length.
Overall:
Very interesting and well put together. I’d like to know what casks were used. There appears to be some sherry in there but maybe it’s something completely different?
