Irishman Single Malt Coffee Stout Finish
A collaboration between Walsh Whiskey and Dick Mack’s Pub in Dingle. The limited run from the single cask yielded just 240 bottles. The barrel originally held Irish whiskey before being filled with a coffee stout from Dick Mack’s Brewhouse for several months. When the stout was sold out the cask was filled with Irishman Single Malt for 9 months. 48% ABV, nonchill filtered and available exclusively from Celtic Whiskey Shop for €75.
Omar Fitzell Notes
An instant milk chocolate note. Loads of fruit, orchard and stone fruit. An obvious malt note with some very light roasted nuts in the background.
Palate:
A silky mouth feel for a malt whiskey that is warming. Slight bitterness but once again a chocolate note following on from the nose. More of a dark chocolate here than the milk chocolate nose.
Finish:
More towards the long side. Warmth that slowly dissipates and leaves a lovely espresso note rolling around the mouth.
Overall:
The good folks at Dick Mack’s need a stern talking to! Like seriously, who fills ONE cask of this stuff!!! Come on lads you’ve broken my heart! This is yet again a super whiskey to emerge from Walsh and I believe the first of many from Dick Mack’s.
Al Higgins notes
Nose:
Soft, refined and gently fruity. Aromas reminiscent of freshly sliced green apple, white grapes, melon and kiwi.
Palate:
Juicy, fruity and very palatable. Some flavour evolution brings warmer cask characters of chocolate cookies, Christmas pudding and liquorice.
Finish:
Warm and chocolaty.
Overall:
The nose betrays what is yet to come. This really delivers on the palate and offers up a really enjoyable spectrum of flavours.
