J.J. Corry Irish Whiskey launches ‘The Cyber Monday’ 20-year-old Single Malt whiskey with whiskey bonding game

J.J. Corry have announced the release of ‘The Cyber Monday’, an online only exclusive with retailer Irishmalts, for ‘Cyber Monday’. The limited-edition release will go on sale on Monday the 29th of November at 10am GMT at https://www.irishmalts.com/jj-corry-the-cyber-monday.

The Cyber Monday is a 20-Year-Old Irish Single Malt. A vatting of two Single Malt casks, both distilled in 2001 and aged in second fill ex-bourbon casks. Each cask was hand selected by the Bonder and blended to create The Cyber Monday, a rich and complex fruit bomb, representative of J.J. Corry’s house style. Bottled at 46% abv / 92 Proof, with no chill filtration or colour added, just 200 bottles of The Cyber Monday were made, and all will be sold on Irishmalts, while stocks last.

‘The Cyber Monday’ is the third collaboration between J.J. Corry and Irishmalts, following ‘The Black Friday’ in 2019 and ‘The Rebel Blend’ in 2020.

To celebrate the release of The Cyber Monday, J.J. Corry have launched an online video game ‘Angels Don’t Share’. Fans from all over the world can go to thecybermonday.jjcorry.com and play ‘Angels Don’t Share’, to be in with a chance to win a bottle of the limited release.

The game release is a first in whiskey and J.J. Corry founder Louise McGuane commented that:

“Covid-19 has brought forward what was the inevitable rise of the online drinks market or ‘No-Premise’. We were slowly going that way pre-pandemic but the sudden and almost complete shift to digital meant that brands had to change the traditional strategy of building a luxury brand primarily in the On-Premise to an increased focus on digital and e-commerce. This release is one way that we are embracing that change, with partners Irishmalts, who are doing incredible work bringing Irish Whiskey to new consumers worldwide.”

The game, titled Angels Don’t Share depicts McGuane catching falling barrels, ‘dropped by Angels who wanted to take more than their share of the whiskey destined for The Cyber Monday release’.  Players must help McGuane catch the falling barrels while avoiding lightening bolts. Each day until the 8pm GMT on the 30th of November, players can compete to be the highest scorer, and be entered into a draw to win a bottle of The Cyber Monday.

Official Tasting Notes:

Nose
Sweet, ripe and an almost syrupy forest fruit character.

Palate
Bursting with sweet soft fruits: juicy melon, fresh fig and a touch of apple. Notes of honeyed nuts and a rich, thick mouthfeel delivering a slightly savoury edge with macadamia nuts.

Finish
Subtle, long and rewarding; the rich mouthfeel lingers.
