Fourth release in the highly acclaimed Wonders of Wood series

Teeling Whiskey announced on International Irish Whiskey Day (3rd March 2026) the fourth release in its limited-edition Wonders of Wood (WOW) series, an ongoing exploration of how rare and distinctive oak species can shape the flavour of Irish Single Pot Still.

The series has already earned significant international acclaim. The inaugural release was crowned World’s Best Single Pot Still at the 2022 World Whiskies Awards, with subsequent editions also recognised on the global awards stage helping reinforce Teeling’s reputation for pushing Irish whiskey forward while respecting its roots.

The new expression is crafted from a traditional mash bill of 50% malted barley and 50% unmalted barley, triple distilled at the Teeling Whiskey Distillery in Dublin before maturation in virgin Carpathian oak casks. Sourced from the ancient forests of the Carpathian Mountains that span Central and Eastern Europe, this rare oak is known for its tight grain and high tannin structure, delivering pronounced spice, sandalwood depth and layered orchard fruit character.

The Wonders of Wood series is built around one clear ambition, to explore how different oak species can unlock new dimensions within Ireland’s most distinctive whiskey style. Each release demonstrates the powerful role wood plays in shaping texture, structure and complexity in Single Pot Still whiskey.

As part of this initiative, Teeling continues its partnership with the Tree Council of Ireland to support the reforestation of native Irish woodland. Previous releases funded the planting of three acres of native Irish trees across Counties Wicklow and Dublin. With this fourth edition, a further acre will be planted ensuring that innovation and sustainability grow side by side.

Jack Teeling, Founder and Managing Director of Teeling Whiskey, commented:

“Wood does the heavy lifting in whiskey. It builds the layers, the spice, the structure and the personality. With Wonders of Wood, we are deliberately putting that influence under the microscope. Carpathian Oak brings a bold, tannic and distinctive spice that gives this Single Pot Still a character all of its own.

This series is about curiosity and progress by asking what happens when you take a uniquely Irish style and mature it in wood rarely used in our category. The answer keeps surprising us. Single Pot Still is Ireland’s original whiskey style. We’re simply giving it new terrain to explore.”

Bottled at 50% ABV in a unique, embossed Teeling Whiskey bottle with a high quality gift box, this bottle of Irish Single Pot Still stands out for all the right reasons.
