The Powerscourt Distillery Unveils ‘The Gates’, the Final Chapter of the Award-Winning Estate Series
The third and final release in the highly-acclaimed Estate Series from Powerscourt Distillery continues with the beautiful Italian Amarone wine influence. Single Malt Irish whiskey, non-chill filtered, bottled at 46% ABV and great value at €75.

The lead motif of “Trumpeter” on The Gates label was inspired by the intricate Chorus Gate of Powerscourt Estate and serves to symbolise the announcement of a historic milestone for The Powerscourt Distillery using Malt distilled on site for this release.
The Powerscourt Distillery concludes its Estate Series with “The Gates,” the final installment of the trilogy. This edition, a Fercullen Single Malt, is an amalgamation of Bourbon and Amarone matured whiskeys, marking some of the first whiskey distilled in Wicklow in over a century. Fercullen Estate Series 3, The Gates will be available from the Distillery website and Visitor Centre from July 3rd and nationwide from trade partners in the coming weeks. The Gates has a 46% ABV. “The Gates” serves as a tribute to the historic Chorus Gate of the Powerscourt Estate. As the final piece of the series, it resonates with the rich history of the Estate. The intricately designed Venetian Gates of the Powerscourt Estate, created by skilled craftsmen of the past, serve as the inspiration for this blend. They stand as a testament to a perfect union of form and function, like the whiskey represents a harmony of tradition and innovation.
This final whiskey continues the journey that started with the first release; an Amarone finished Single Grain called ‘The Mill House’. The series continued with ‘The Italian Gardens’, a limited-release blend that won the World Whiskies Award for the World’s Best Limited Release Blend. “The Gates” completes this unique exploration of the distillery’s heritage and craft.

The flavour profile of “The Gates” includes notes of summer fruit meringue, strawberry, cherry, plum, lime, mint, apple, and cut hay. Taste of vanilla, honey, custard drizzled over poached summer fruits with digestive biscuits, and a finish of fruit pudding giving way to soft oak spice.
