Roe & Co release new Irish whiskey in a new collaboration with Killahora Orchards

Press release:

Roe & Co’s unrelenting mission to test and experiment in the pursuit of new flavours is celebrated today with the launch of Roe & Killahora Curators 0.2, a category first for the brand just in time for St. Patricks Day.

The collaboration is a story of two innovators in the Irish drinks’ industry coming together to share knowledge and casks. This experiment has created two new and exciting limited-edition liquids which have been unmistakably heightened with unctuous notes of crisp green orchard fruits and buttery pastries, which shine through in Roe & Killahora Curators 0.2. Meanwhile notes of toffee apple entice you into Killahora Orchard’s limited-edition release.

Killahora Orchards is a family business that was founded on an estate and orchards in Cork that date back to 1750. Today it is a multi-award-winning Irish business which looks to turn the best rare apple and pear varieties into the finest drinks. In an exciting exploration, Roe & Co’s original blend was finished in Killahora casks for nearly a year to deliver the limited edition Roe & Killahora Curator 0.2 Irish whiskey.

Roe & Co has always looked to challenge itself when seeking out the like-minded for collaborations. The partnership with Killahora Orchards has allowed Roe & Co to really capture the essence of orchard fruits and explore layers of flavours to achieve their goal of creating something special through playful experimentation.

Speaking about the collaboration, Kate Watson, Director of Killahora Orchards commented

“we are really proud of our partnership with Roe & Co because we stand for the same values of craftmanship, innovation and terroir”.

Co-founder Barry Walsh added

“we are delighted with the results of our cask swap, which shows what can be achieved when innovators explore the boundaries of flavour”.

As part of the collaboration, Killahora Orchards’ is releasing a limited-edition Apple Aperitif matured in Roe & Co whiskey casks. The product is unique to Killahora and is made with bittersweet apples from their orchards in Cork, blended with apple spirit and aged in both grain and malt Roe & Co whiskey casks for almost a year.

The new collaboration will also be celebrated at the home of Roe & Co with a new premium sensory experience tour at the Roe & Co distillery, kicking off on St. Patrick’s Day. Of Sand and Soil: A Taste of Ireland, this experience will bring visitors on a journey of flavour discovery, from the crashing shores of the coast to the bountiful land. All brought to life through vibrant contemporary whiskey cocktails and local food residencies.

Running across March and April it includes a masterclass in cocktail making, followed by a premium whiskey tasting paired with bespoke local artisan bites, such as chocolate and cheese to complement the flavour notes. It is here that visitors will get a chance to try the new Roe & Killahora Curators 0.2 Irish whiskey and its collaboration partner, the Killahora Orchards’ limited-edition Apple Aperitif.

This new Roe & Co whiskey joins a line of innovations from the brand since its inception in 2017, including Roe & Co Curators 0.1, Cask Strength 2019, 2020 and 2021 Editions and Distillery exclusives such as Single Malt, Single Grain and the Cask & Keg, Guinness Open Gate Brewery collaboration with Antwerpen Stout and Citra IPA editions.

A limited run of approximately 1,900 bottles of ‘Roe & Killahora Curators 0.2’ will be available from the Roe & Co Distillery and website, Celtic Whiskey, and a small number of selected Whiskey specialist stores. RRSP of €58 per bottle of Roe & Killahora whiskey and €85 for the two products together in a beautifully curated gift box by Irish artist Aoife Davies which are available for shipment across ROI and NI.
