Following on from their previous three releases W.D. O’Connell Whiskey Merchants are launching the next stage of their product development with their Peated Series Bill Phil, and the PX Series 18-year-old getting the cask strength treatment. First presented to the world at Belfast Whiskey Week 2020 in an exclusive tasting box these two single malts are finally here.

“We launched last December with two single cask offerings, and we are back here again except this time in cask strength and with 50cl bottles. The decision to use 50cl was two-fold, to give us a distinct bottle look and feel for the cask strength range and to keep the retail cost down. The end result is a brilliant looking bottle at a reasonable RRP given the quality of whiskey and the ABV.”
The Bill Phil Batch 59.6% ABV is a triple-distilled peated single malt Irish whiskey, which has been aged exclusively in first-fill bourbon barrels. Triple Distilled May 2016, at Great Northern Dundalk. 59.6% ABV. Matured Exclusively in 1st fill Bourbon barrel. Limited to 350 50cl Bottles. Distinctly peated, there are aromas of fresh charcoal and citrus fruits revealing a palate with a rich, creamy texture. The smoke, oak and spice intermingle beautifully exposing rich biscuit malt, poached pears and banana notes with sweet smoke and orchard fruits on the lengthening finish.
The PX18 is a double distilled Single Malt Irish Whiskey. Distilled in May 2002, at Cooley Distillery. 58.16% ABV. Matured in 1st fill Bourbon barrels for 17 years and Pedro Ximénez Sherry cask for 13 months. Limited to 370 50cl bottles.
